The original comedy

Shore Insanity

By Brian McDermott; adapted and directed by Ara Barlieb.

This new play was adapted, ‘Crowded Kitchen Player style” by Ara Barlieb from “ Lying at the Beach,” written by local playwright, Brian McDermott. McDermott, a Lehigh Valley native, living in Virginia, has had his play produced at PA Playhouse, in Bethlehem and the defunct Theatre Outlet, in Allentown. “Shore Insanity” opens March 5 at McCoole’s Arts and Events Place, Quakertown.

Tony and Trudy, the owners of a breathtaking beachfront property near Rehoboth, Delaware have been called out of town abruptly, leaving their caretaker Renee in charge. Renee, in turn, offers her penniless brother Steve and his wife Karen the once-in-a-lifetime chance to spend Memorial Day in the vacant mansion. They leap at the offer and settle in for what they fully expect to be a dream vacation. But, when a body suddenly tumbles out of the linen closet, the phone service shuts down, and a wide assortment of quirky and intimidating neighbors begin showing up for what they claim is the annual Holiday party, the oceanside atmosphere quickly turns sinister. Does the body in the closet spell murder? Or is it another case of “Shore Insanity.”

The Crowded Kitchen Player cast includes Pamela Wallace, Tom Harrison, Nancy Mikkelsen, Elizabeth Buss, Scott Van Nortwick, Diane Bakos. Keith Moser, Sharon Ferry, Jay Fletcher, and Christian Friebolin.
